James W. McNeilly Jr. is a 1981 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, and earned a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. He practices in all state and federal courts in Wisconsin. Jim is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and rated a 10 by Avvo, both the highest ratings available. Jim has also been honored to have been named to the Super Lawyers lists for 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Jim has been a member of the United States Chapter 7 Trustee Panel for the Western District of Wisconsin since 1987, and served as a Court Commissioner for La Crosse County Judge Ramona A. Gonzalez from 1995 to 2007. He has taught business law to bachelor's and master's level students. Jim has also presented at continuing state and national legal education seminars, and has authored articles on bankruptcy and business law topics; in short, he teaches lawyers how to practice law. Additionally, Jim has operated several businesses as a court appointed receiver and as a trustee.
Jim is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, the La Crosse, Kenosha and Milwaukee County Bar Associations, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Jim focuses on complicated bankruptcies and insolvencies, receiverships, estate planning, complicated business matters and real estate.
